Every diamond is unique - just like every person.

No two diamonds are the same. Each stone has individual characteristics that make its beauty and radiance special.

To evaluate these differences objectively, recognized gemological laboratories such as the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or the IGI (International Gemological Institute) use an internationally recognized system. This evaluates diamonds based on the so-called 4C criteria: Cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

These four characteristics significantly determine the quality and value of a diamond. If you understand them, you can make the right choice - for a stone that is not only visually impressive, but also represents a valuable investment.

It is particularly important to rely on these quality features when buying online. After all, many details that influence the price and beauty of a diamond are barely recognizable in photos. An official certificate with a clear rating offers the necessary security here.

Below we explain what you should look out for in each of these four features:

Cut

Cut

The cut of a diamond describes the interplay of proportion, polish and symmetry and is decisive for its sparkle. Only a precisely cut stone reflects the light optimally and ensures maximum brilliance and fire. If the cut is too shallow or too deep, the light escapes and the diamond appears dull. This is why we at Stellini Diamonds only stock stones with an excellent cut.

Color

Color

The color of a diamond describes how colorless or tinted it is - the clearer, the more valuable. A yellow or brown tint usually reduces the brilliance and therefore the value of the stone. Colorless diamonds allow light to pass through better and sparkle more intensely. Lab-grown diamonds often have a particularly pure color, as there are hardly any interfering trace elements during the creation process. The color scale ranges from D (very fine white) to Z (tinted). At Stellini Diamonds, we only stock the best quality diamonds in colors ranging from D to F (colorless)

Clarity

Clarity

Clarity describes how free a diamond is of inclusions. The fewer such impurities there are, the higher its quality and value. Many inclusions are only visible under 10x magnification, but still influence the valuation. The clarity is divided into eleven levels - from loupe clarity (FL) to strongly included (I3). Every diamond is unique, and small inclusions often make it even more individual and full of character. We only stock diamonds from VS.

Carat

Carat

Carat isthe unit of measurement for the weight of a diamond, not to be confused with its size. Depending on the cut, a stone with the same carat weight can appear different in size. The actual size is therefore also given in millimetres (length × width). As a general rule, the heavier the diamond, the rarer and more valuable it is, especially in the case of natural diamonds, which are expensive and resource-intensive to extract.
